The World (Cup) Comes to South Africa

While FIFA brought excitement and national pride to South Africa for the Soccer World Cup, it also brought budget cuts for education and various programs, as well as an extended school holiday.  Throughout that month, Dollars for Change ran a program offered to all kids in the Kurland Village on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.  With the help of some great volunteers, we offered soccer, face painting, relay races, games as well as a few life skills activities.  Each child received an apple each day and we consistently had 70 kids attend each day.
